The state prison authority reported few details of a mid-morning fire at a soon-to-close prison revealing only that it originated in an “inmate’s bed.”

Public Information Specialist Samantha Banks with the Alabama Department of Corrections said the fire occurred Wednesday, Dec. 27, around 10:30 a.m. in the bed of an incarcerated person at Draper Correctional Facility.
