The Elmore County Panthers put in one good half against the always-tough Clay Central Volunteers Friday night, but one half was just not enough in a non-region football game. 

The Volunteers came from behind to defeat Elmore County, 28-14. With Clay Central now out of the Panthers’ region in 4A, ECHS coach Kyle Caldwell said he and Volunteer coach Danny Horn scheduled the Week 1 tilt to test each other’s mettle.
