Submitted / TPI Elmore County Board of Education member Wendell Saxon and his wife Yvonne have once again organized Elmore County Schools Black History poster contest.

It’s become an annual event for Wendell Saxon and his wife Yvonne to announce winners of the Black History essay and poster contest for Elmore County Schools.

The program gives teachers an opportunity to bring new lessons into the classroom and reward students. It encourages students to learn some of the achievements of Blacks throughout history such as Booker T. Washington. This year’s theme honors 250 years of Black History with Alabama connections.
