Stanhope Elmore guard Heaven Bailey, a recent transfer from Montgomery Catholic, sets up in zone defense against the boys junior varsity in a Friday afternoon scrimmage. Bailey is ranked as the No. 2 point guard in the state.

Basketball season is on its way back, and the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs are ready to play. This year, the SEHS girls basketball team is reloaded and stacked with talent. It’s prepared to retake the area title from its rivals, the Wetumpka Indians. 

The Mustangs haven’t found themselves at the top of the area since the 2021-22 season.
