For decades ‘The Level’ has been a close knit community.

It is just south of West Bridge Street in Wetumpka with six streets entering it and bound by the Coosa River further south. Families have lived there for generations. Some remember walking to the W.B. Doby School, the segregated school and the Elmore County Training School, that now serves as the Elmore County Black History Museum before that.
