The new Chick-fil-A under construction in Wetumpka will receive some of the sales tax it collects for five years after it is open.

The $100,000 per year rebate, up to a maximum of $500,000, will be repaid to Chick-fil-A Inc. The rebate was approved by the Wetumpka City Council at its Monday meeting. The council approval of a “Project Development Agreement” followed a legal advertisement in the Sept. 9 Wetumpka Herald for a public hearing on Sept. 21. The public hearing occurred with no comments at Monday’s meeting.
