Court

Outside of state offices, there are no opposed Elmore County races on either the Democrat or Republican primary ballots to be cast Tuesday. But two state offices greatly affect Elmore County, when it comes to the courts, are up for a decision by voters. Both are on the Republican primary ballot. Registered voters get to decide between Carol Cook Carter, Bradley Earl Ekdahl and Ali Patterson to a new position in the 19th Judicial Circuit, an additional judge. The new position was recommended by the Alabama Administrative Office of Courts and funding for staff was approved by the Alabama Legislature. It will bring to five the number of circuit court judges serving Elmore, Autauga and Chilton counties.

The candidates were at an Elmore County NAACP forum last week and discussion centered mostly around resumes and core beliefs. The three circuit court judge candidates said they could set aside friendships and connections from practicing law locally for decades.
