Every year, in every sport, rivalry games stand out on the schedule. At whatever level of sports, from high school onto professional, rivalry games are pivotal, season-defining encounters. The best ones may even decide a particular team’s fate.

While it may last only 48 minutes of the clock in high school football in Alabama, rivalries across the state but especially in Elmore County take place across 365 days. Those rivalries are alive in the neighbors who sit next to each other in church pews, the friends who see each other for video games after school, even in marriages or between siblings.
