Success is delicate; it requires balance, the correct environment, hard work and attention to detail.Â
On opening day for each team, the Wetumpka Indians traveled to Tallassee to take on the Tigers. The Indians ended up claiming the first game out of two times the intercounty rivals will face each other this season, 10-4.Â
After last season’s run to the regional tournament, Tallassee’s softball team is honed in on building back up to that kind of success.Â
With certain key players out with injuries, Tallassee’s girls soccer team is figuring things out as it goes, hoping to eventually string together a top-two finish in a very competitive area and make a run into the playoffs.Â
In one of the toughest areas in the state, Tallassee’s boys soccer team understands it has what it takes to make a deep run into the playoffs if it can get out of the area as one of the top two teams.Â
Over the course of the season, Tallassee’s girls basketball team found a way to win, seeing the path to success. That path, however, happened to lead through a highly competitive area in Class 4A’s Area 3 with tough opponents in Montgomery Catholic and Trinity Presbyterian.Â
After the AHSAA announced its 2026-2028 reclassification on Jan. 23, Alabama high school football was shaken up in more ways than one. For Elmore County, the change is not as substantial as it is for some teams.Â
To put it simply, history was made for Reeltown at the AHSAA Wrestling Championships.
When the Elmore County Panthers started this boys basketball season, the goal was clearly set: win a first-round playoff game. The Panthers have made it out of the area tournament and even hosted the sub-regional round, but they hadn’t made it past that pesky first-round game since 1991.Â
No matter who it has on the mats, Tallassee’s wrestlers will compete to win.Â
When the Elmore County Panthers began this wrestling season, they knew it would be a long road to victory but also that they were completely capable of achieving their goals which was recreating and improving on last season’s successes.Â
